  • You must be using a broadband Internet connection (DSL, cable-modem, or company/organization network) - a dial-up modem connection is not fast enough to receive the webcasts.
  • You must be using Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or better or Netscape Navigator 4.7 or better. We highly recommended the latest version of Internet Explorer. Cookies, Java, and JavaScript must be enabled.
  • You must be using Windows 95 or better (including Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000, or Windows XP), OR Macintosh OS 9 or Macintosh OS X.
  • You must have Windows Media Player 6.4 or better installed, with the corresponding browser plug-in.
  • America Online's (AOL) default web browser is *not* supported. If you use AOL, please consult AOL Technical Support to determine how you can use one of the supported browsers listed above.
  • While other operating systems (such as Linux) or browsers *may* work, they are not supported and you may experience graphical or usage anomalies.

  • Windows Media Player 6.4 already comes pre-installed with Windows 98, ME, 2000, and XP; there is no need for any action on your part. Windows 95 and NT users will need to visit the Windows Media Player 6.4 Download Page and click the "Download Now" button. Detailed installation instructions are provided on the download page.
  • Users of Windows 98, ME, 2000, and XP may choose to upgrade to the latest version of Windows Media Player. Although an upgrade is not necessary to access this program, which is designed to be used with version 6.4 and later, it is a free download. Use the button below to go to the Windows Media Download Page and select the version that matches your operating system.
  • Mac Users: Windows Media Player for MacOS is available in two versions: one for MacOS 9.x, and one for MacOS X. Both can be downloaded from: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/default.asp

  • Click on the Webcast 05 button on the home page. Then, click on the View Entire Program link or on the individual topic segment links.
  • You may need to press the Play Play button button to begin the presentation, should you become disconnected from the webcast.
  • Note: This website utilizes pop-up windows for the webcast. If you are using pop-up window blocking software such as the Google Toolbar or Internet Explorer's pop-up blocker, you may need to either temporarily disable the software, or configure the software to allow pop-ups from this site.

  • First, you must have Windows Media Player installed to view this webcast. Second, you must be using a high-speed Internet connection. Typically, offices, hospitals and Universities have high-speed Internet connections. Home users who have DSL, cable-modems or other types of broadband connections also have high-speed Internet connections. Home users connecting via dialup-modem connections will not be able to see the video. If your Internet connection is too slow, Windows Media Player will automatically revert to "audio only" mode and in place of the video, you will either see an animated Windows Media graphic, the last video still frame the player was able to retrieve, or just a black screen.
  • Users of versions of Windows Media Player prior to version 9 will need to download a small update to see the video. This is done automatically for you upon connection to the webcast; however, users who are behind a firewall or users who do not have administrative privileges will need to talk to their system administrator to temporarily allow administrative access on their computer.

  • You must have Windows Media Player installed to view this webcast. If you do not have Windows Media Player installed or you are not sure, please follow the above instructions on downloading and installing Windows Media Player.
  • First, check your physical connections between your speakers and your computer; make sure your speakers are turned on and the volume is up, and the speakers are plugged into the proper jack on your computer's sound card.
  • If your speakers are firmly connected and powered, open Volume Control on your computer. Make sure that the Mute checkboxes are unchecked for Play Control (sometimes also labeled Master) and Wave/MP3 (or just Wave on older systems), and both volume sliders are up.
  • In the video window, make sure that the Windows Media Player volume slider is up and not muted.
  • Note: If the Volume Control icon does not appear, you may need to enable it. Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Sounds and Multimedia (in Windows XP, Sounds and Audio Devices). Check the box that says "Show Volume Icon on the Taskbar".
  • Mac Users:
    OS 8 & 9 (Classic): To check Volume Control, go Apple icon -> Control Panels -> Sound.
    OSX: To check Volume Control, go (System Preferences) -> Hardware: Sound -> Output (tab)
    Make sure the Main Volume/Output Volume slider is sufficiently raised, and the Mute box is unchecked.
    Follow the above instructions for the video player window to make sure your sound is not muted.
